2010 has been a crazy year in the cornhole world. So it wasn’t surprising to see a little more chaos created before the end of the year.

The World Rankings were updated on Tuesday, December 21st with a notable change at the top of the rankings. Reigning King Matt Guy was awarded 25 bonus points, the #1 seed and replaced Steve Vanderver in the hole position. As most players know, this had been common practice over the last four years.

Then the ACO Reloaded.

Players’ reactions have been from both sides of the aisle. Several players remember the “common practice” reiterated in the players meeting in Las Vegas. Others vehemently state there is no evidence in the Reloaded documents supporting the “common practice” and no one should be given the number one seed. The question is, does this “common practice” still apply to the Reloaded season?

Here is the official press release from the ACO regarding this matter:

Players,

Our policy over the last four years has been to reward the reigning King with the number one seed at the following season’s ACO King of Cornhole. We had discussions during the development of the Reload to change the policy and award the number one player in the World Rankings the number one seed. Neither concept was clearly stated in the Reload and we apologize for this oversight.

Moving forward, the number one seed at the ACO King of Cornhole will be awarded to the number one player in the World Rankings. Steve Vanderver has earned that number one position.

Regards,
ACO
