I should have started my cornhole blog some 13 years ago when I entered the world of cornhole from the advertising industry. I came across cornhole by accident while tailgating before a Cincinnati Bengals football game. Yes sorry to say it is true I’m a Cincinnati fan. The game immediately caught my interest as an incredible social activity and a great branding opportunity for businesses through customizing the boards and bags. I also realized by actually playing the game that it was highly addictive and brought out the competitive nature in people.

I soon wondered why it couldn’t become more than just a tailgate / backyard game. I thought to myself if this was properly organized and promoted it could certainly evolve into something bigger, the vision was to make it a recognized global sport. I had no intentions of being a comedian, but in the eyes of my friends and wife when I explained to them that I was going to leave my current business and pursue my passion and dream to take this bean bag tossing game called Cornhole to another level, they laughed. I actually made my wife cry that day back in the Summer of 2005.

Fast forward to 2017 and cornhole is now being looked at by major sports networks. Cornhole is being used by businesses for team building, brand awareness and networking functions. There are now countless companies selling boards and bags in what has clearly become a multi-million dollar industry, if not more. There are also numerous charities around the country using it for fundraising purposes. To top it all off the ACO World Championships of Cornhole which crowns the single best player on the planet in July annually will be hosting over 500 players from 25 plus states at this years event in July 24-28, 2017 in Montgomery, AL. This event will carry a minimum of $68,000.00 in purse and prizes. It also will likely be televised by a national sports network. The point is cornhole is going big time and we are a huge part of picture.

My name is Frank Geers and I am the “CORNHOLE DUDE”. I am the founder of the American Cornhole Organization or ACO. I founded the company in October of 2005 and it has become the recognized governing body to the sport of cornhole. We didn’t invent the game, we just made it better.

I’m going to use this blog to keep track of my life in general and the continuation of my journey to make cornhole a global sport and the Worlds most played game.

Get ready for a pitchin’ fun journey.

GAME ON!
