Legacy King of Cornhole

By ACO News (from the ACO), ACO Video

Re-live cornhole history. Watch the cornhole series where it all started.

Before the casinos, World Rankings, CornyForty, Masters Series and the World Championships of Cornhole. Before it all was a short-lived, local television series called the King of Cornhole. Created from the mind of Matt Gray in 2002 and based on the old King of TV Bowling series in Cincinnati, OH, Gray enlisted the help of Phill Daniel, Doug Hopkins and Chad Dillefeld to create cornhole history in 2006. Produced by Gamemasters Inc., the King of Cornhole television show was the first cornhole show in television history.

Years later, the ACO King of Cornhole has evolved to become the ultimate world championship in cornhole.

The ACO has re-released the videos on the ACO’s YouTube channel to celebrate its history and the impact the “Legacy Era” continues to make in the cornhole community. Enjoy matches with Matt Guy, Randy Atha, Michael Bailey and Chu Farfsing with commentary by Gil Flunkerton, Joe Fitzpatrick and Scott Yew.

ACO Worlds: Behind the Scenes

By ACO Video

The blizzard.

It created a problem for more than just players going to the ACO World Championships V to participate in the King of Cornhole and other tournaments. It played a crucial role in determining whether or not the event would be streamed online for the masses to watch.

Matt Gray (left) and Paul Nelson (right) discussing options.

While everyone enjoyed themselves playing cornhole, Matt Gray and Paul Nelson were attempting to resolve an unfortunate situation behind the scenes. The video production company hired to produce and stream the event couldn’t make the journey to the ACO Worlds because of the hazardous weather.

It’s 8:00AM. There wasn’t a production company for the ACO Worlds. Championship matches were schedule to start in eight hours. Watch the adventures of Matt and Paul trying to find a solution to this dilemna.

ACO on WCPO’s Sports of All Sorts

By ACO News (from the ACO), ACO Video

Cincinnati’s longest running talk show is Sports of All Sorts on WCPO Channel Nine. Hosted by John Popovich, the show is practically a local television institution. American Cornhole was invited to be featured on the show.

ACO would like to thank Popo and the entire crew at WCPO for giving cornhole some recognition. Thanks also go out to Matt Guy, Steve Vanderver, Brent Ellis and Bret Guy for making the trip for the live broadcast.
